Twenty is not a magic number. It is a discipline. Most organizations spread their attention across hundreds or thousands of donors and prospects. The 20 Gift Campaign asks leadership to think differently: identify a small group of people with the capacity, connection, and potential to help transform the organization, then invest deeply in those relationships.Twenty is large enough to create extraordinary possibilities, but small enough for leadership to know each relationship personally and approach it with intention.

No. The number creates focus rather than imposing a rigid numerical requirement. An organization may ultimately receive more or fewer transformational gifts. The principle is to concentrate leadership attention on a deliberately limited group of relationships with exceptional transformational potential.

A traditional capital campaign often begins with a financial target and builds (with volunteers) a broad fundraising structure designed to reach it.The 20 Gift Campaign begins with vision and relationships. It asks what could fundamentally change the future of the organization, who might share that vision, and how those individuals can become deeply engaged in making it possible. It is not simply a smaller capital campaign. It represents a different way of approaching major gift fundraising.

A transformational gift is more than a large donation. It is a gift capable of materially changing what an organization can accomplish. Its significance is therefore relative to the organization, its mission, its ambitions, and the donor's capacity. The objective is not simply to secure larger gifts. It is to connect extraordinary philanthropic capacity with an extraordinary organizational vision.
